The 2020 Sortevera Tinto comes from ancient field blends of local varieties in different vineyards in different sectors of Taganana in northeast Tenerife, mostly Las Fajanetas, Amogoje and Margalagua. It fermented with full clusters in plastic bins and matured in barrel for 10 months. As I saw in other wines, there is more complexity and depth in this vintage than the corresponding 2019, with subtle minerality and less rusticity. There is a plus here in the texture and quality of the tannins, which give it a lot more elegance. 1,300 bottles. It was bottled in September 2021.

Description
The wine Suertes del Marqués de Sortevera was born thanks to the collaboration between the winegrower Jose Ángel Alonso Ramos from Taganana and Jonatan García from Suertes del Marqués. It is a crianza red wine, with the denomination of origin of Valle de la Orotava. It comes from the Canary Islands region.
Elaboration
This wine was made with grapes from different vineyards in the northeast of Tenerife, which come from old field blends containing Mulata, Listan Negro, Listan Gacho, Moscatel Negro, Tintilla and Vijariego Negro grapes. Fermented with whole bunches and native yeasts, in plastic containers and with 15 days of maceration.
This wine is aged in oak barrels for 9 months. In addition, the grapes are harvested in the traditional way, picking the whole bunch.
Taste
The taste of the Suertes del Marqués Sortevera red wine is more fruity and riper than the wines of Suertes del Marqués de la Orotava; it is less complex and less volcanic mineral. It has a mix of herbaceous notes, is spicy and floral, with very fine, dry tannins on the finish.
