Description
El Puntido is a red wine made with the well-known tempranillo grape variety from the El Puntido estate of the Viñedos de Páganos winery in La Rioja.
This vineyard of Finca El Puntido was planted in 1975 on a clay-loam soil due to its texture and clay-limestone due to its composition.
It is a privileged terrain, valued for its climatic conditions, located in Páganos, Laguardia, at an altitude of 600 metres above sea level.
Elaboration
The grapes are harvested by hand, under a rigorous selection process in the vineyard and in the winery. The winemaking process is traditional, with a pre-fermentation maceration for 5 days at a temperature of 6°C, and gentle pumping over and light aeration during this phase.
Alcoholic fermentation takes approximately 9 days with temperature control between 28 and 30°C, with one or two pumping-overs per day in the first phase and finishing with a pumping-over. Post-fermentation maceration lasts 11 days. Devatting is carried out directly into new French oak barrels where it undergoes malolactic fermentation and is aged for 16 months in new French oak barrels and 6 months in tanks.

El Puntido is a red wine that impresses with its mineral, floral and fruity notes. On the palate it is powerful, balanced with round tannins and a dry and serious finish.
