Description
Located in the region of Vittoria (RG), in the southeast of Sicily, we find the wine Cos Sicilia Nero di Lupo, a pure exponent of the Nero d'Avola variety. This winemaking jewel is cultivated under biodynamic farming practices, at an altitude of 230 metres above sea level. The soil, of medium consistency and red colour, was formed from sub-apennine sands of Pliocene origin, of limestone-siliceous nature.
Elaboration
The vineyard is trained in the Guyot system, with a planting density of 5,000 vines per hectare. The vines have an average age of 15 years, which guarantees the maturity and quality of the fruit. Harvesting takes place at the end of September and beginning of October, and fermentation is spontaneous, carried out with indigenous yeasts and in contact with the skins of the fruit. As for its ageing, this wine benefits from ageing in cement tanks and later in the bottle, which gives it a unique structure and character.
Taste
Cos Sicilia Nero di Lupo is a great wine from a great winery. At first sight, its light ruby colour captivates us, but it is on the nose where it really surprises us. It is deep, with intense aromas of red berries. On tasting, its juicy flavour envelops us, combining citrus notes with the sweetness of plum. It is a round, lively and fresh wine. A wine that, curiously, is more reminiscent of a Beaujolais than of traditional Italian wines.
