Description
Albariño Do Ferreiro is a white wine made exclusively from the Albariño grape variety in the Rías Baixas DO by the Bodegas Gerardo Méndez winery.
This extraordinary wine has been named after Gerardo Méndez's father, a blacksmith by profession, and is one of the most loved and popular wines of the region.
The grapes used to make this wine come from young vineyards between 5 and 12 years old on granitic sands and red slate, located between 100 and 115 metres above sea level.
Winemaking
The grapes are harvested by hand. They are transported in small boxes to the winery as quickly as possible to prevent the grapes from deteriorating and oxidising.
Once in the winery, the grapes undergo a destemming process and are then macerated for one or two days at a controlled temperature of 15º and then decanted for twelve hours before fermenting in stainless steel tanks for 24 days.
Flavour
Albariño Do Ferreiro is a white wine with a citrus aroma and subtle floral notes. On the palate it is silky, elegant, mineral and saline. It presents a vibrant acidity that makes it a very pleasant and easy to drink wine. A delight that surprises with its exceptional balance, freshness and roundness.
