Buy Wine from Arbois
The Arbois appellation belongs to the Jura wine region, which represents 1% of the total wine production in France. Specifically, the Arbois vineyard produces a total of 45,000 hectoliters of wine per year and has 843 hectares spread over 13 municipalities.
The AOC Arbois, born as such in 1936, produces white, rosé, red, sparkling and liqueur wines with the white varieties Savagnin and Chardonnay, and reds Poulsard, Trosseau and Pinot Noir.
Like its neighboring appellations Château Chalon and L'Etoile, Arbois produces the prized vin jaune (yellow wine) vinified with Savagnin through biological aging under a veil of flor in oak barrels for a minimum of six years. The wine is powerful and complex, with notes of walnut, spices and vanilla, and an unctuous and long texture. This wine is marketed in a 62 cl. clavelin bottle.
