Pierre Gimonnet Oger Grand Cru Brut

Robert Parker's Wine Advocate
Gimonnet's NV Oger Grand Cru Brut Blanc de Blancs is made from 100% Chardonnay cultivated in Oger, and is different from the Premier Crus from this house. It is very fresh and displays nut and almond flavors on the nose, whereas on the palate this is a dry and pure, Gimonnet-typically elegant and finesse-full, but also very powerful and mineral, very well-structured champagne that is really thrilling in its youthful austerity; it also seems quite rich and mature for its youth. 'This is champagne for lobster not for oysters,' says Didier Gimonnet. This Oger is based on the 2011 vintage and was disgorged in March 2015 with 6 grams per liter dosage.

Description
Pierre Gimonnet Oger Grand Cru Brut is an exceptional champagne produced by the renowned Pierre Gimonnet & Fils, a family winery distinguished by its commitment to quality and tradition in the production of high-end champagnes. This wine is a special cuvée, 100% Chardonnay, which comes exclusively from the Grand Cru vineyards of Oger, in the prestigious Côte des Blancs.
The vineyards that give rise to this champagne are located in privileged terroirs, with mainly chalky soils and a small proportion of clay-limestone soils, which contributes to an outstanding minerality. The vineyards from which the must is obtained include plots such as "Terres de Noël", "Brulis" and "Champs Nérons", all located in the heart of the Grand Cru of Oger.
Winemaking
This champagne is made using traditional winemaking methods, such as manual harvesting, fractional pressing and cold settling. Alcoholic fermentation is carried out at controlled temperatures, followed by malolactic fermentation to soften the wine's acids. Bottle ageing on its lees for more than two years gives the wine complexity and depth. The tirage took place in April and the disgorging took place about three months before its release. In addition, it has a dosage of 5 g/L, which classifies it as a Brut, highlighting a balance between freshness and maturity.
Taste
Pierre Gimonnet Oger Grand Cru Brut impresses with its vibrant character and aromatic complexity. On the nose, it displays unique aromas of yeast, earth and ripe fruits such as peach, accompanied by toasted notes. The palate is full and structured, with flavours of grapefruit, hay and toast. The minerality characteristic of the Oger soils is intensely perceived, with an expression of graphite and a smoky touch that distinguishes this champagne from other Blanc de Blancs. The finish is medium, elegant and fruity, leaving a refreshing sensation that invites further enjoyment.
