Robert Parker's Wine Advocate
The 2022 PSI is clean, expressive and open, much more approachable than the more reductive 2021 that I tasted next to it. It's primary, fruit-driven and precise. 'The fruit selection was better in 2022,' explained Sisseck. It has contained ripeness and a polished texture and is sleek and elegant, with fine tannins. It feels like a step up from 2021. This was also the final blend waiting to be bottled—clarified, sulfur added and everything, so pretty much the wine that is going to be bottled.

Description
PSI is a red wine made by Peter Sisseck, oenologist renowned for his work in Ribera del Duero, within the Dominio de Pingus project. This wine is characterised by being a combination of Tinto Fino (Tempranillo) and 8% Garnacha, which provides complexity and freshness. The vineyards where the grapes come from are located between 800 and 900 metres above sea level, distributed in different micro-plots, which adds diversity to the expression of the terroir. The soils are predominantly limestone, which favours a unique minerality in the wine, accompanied by a natural freshness.
Winemaking
PSI is made using alcoholic fermentation in large cement vats, which allows for a more controlled and homogeneous fermentation. Malolactic fermentation is also carried out in these tanks, preserving the freshness of the wine and softening its texture. Subsequently, the wine undergoes an 18-month ageing process, partly in French oak barrels previously used to age other great wines of the winery, such as Pingus and Flor de Pingus. This process of ageing in used barrels allows the tannins to be polished without excessive influence from the wood, maintaining a balance between fruity power and elegance.
Taste
PSI stands out for its expressive floral nose, accompanied by notes of fresh red fruits, wild herbs and subtle spices. On the palate, the wine has a remarkable balanced acidity that adds freshness, along with fine, well-integrated tannins that provide a smooth but structured texture. The finish is long and persistent, with a pleasant mineral sensation that reflects the limestone soils of the vineyards. It is a wine that, although accessible, has a remarkable complexity that makes it versatile for both immediate enjoyment and medium-term ageing. Ideal with game dishes, cured cheeses and red meats.
