Another single-vineyard red from the zone of Gratallops that names it is the 2015 La Costa Del Riu. It felt a lot more concentrated and with more depth to take the élevage of 12 months in a brand new French barrique. The Garnacha vines are also very young (eight years old), but the wine is most impressive, in an extremely powerful style that is almost painful today. The tannins are fine-grained and abundant, but somehow, I see balance and harmony within the XXL style. I'm hoping this will be more harmonious with a couple more years in bottle. Unfortunately, we're talking about an academic wine, as only 300 bottles were filled in March 2017.
