Winemaking
Description
Fonterenza Pettirosso wine , produced in the Italian region of Cinigiano, is mainly made from two grape varieties: Sangiovese and Ciliegiolo. These varieties are grown at altitudes ranging from 320 to 360 metres above sea level, in specific vineyards such as La Fornace and Vigna di Sara. The soil in which these grapes grow is a combination of sand and tuff, which gives the wine unique characteristics.
Winemaking
This wine is made with a deep respect for nature, using organic farming practices. The vines from which the grapes are obtained are between 23 and 49 years old, which speaks of the tradition and care with which this vineyard has been maintained. The grapes are harvested in the first decade of September, and fermentation is carried out with indigenous yeasts, with a maceration of 7 days. The wine is aged in cement and stainless steel tanks.
Taste
Fonterenza Pettirosso is a wine that stands out for its cherry red colour with purple edges and a low layer. Although at first it can be shy on the nose, with time it reveals aromas of ripe fruit and white flowers. On the palate, its entry is smooth and fresh, with a very low acidity that makes it extremely pleasant on the palate. Its aftertaste is medium long, leaving a pleasant balsamic sensation.
