Description
Finca Montico Verdejo is a single varietal white wine that expresses the purity of Verdejo at its best. Produced by the historic Marqués de Riscal winery, founded in 1858 and a pioneer in winemaking techniques in Spain, this wine is a demonstration of the winery's commitment to innovation and tradition. The grapes come from Pago del Montico, an emblematic vineyard located on the high terraces of the Duero River, with vines over 40 years old and gravelly and pebbly soils, ideal for promoting the minerality and freshness of the wine. The grapes are carefully harvested by hand, ensuring quality from the very beginning.
Winemaking
As for the production of Finca Montico Verdejo, the grapes are cooled on arrival at the winery and undergo a double manual selection process. The pressing is light and in an inert atmosphere, obtaining a high quality free-run juice. This must is fermented with indigenous yeasts and, after fermentation, the wine is aged on fine lees for at least four months. These lees are stirred weekly with nitrogen to add unctuousness and complexity to the final result.
Taste
When tasting Finca Montico Verdejo, an aromatic and expressive character is perceived. Its initial notes are reminiscent of fennel, fine herbs and white fruits such as pear and peach. On the palate, it is fresh, oily and very unctuous, with a balanced acidity and a long, round finish. Each sip is transformed into a harmonious experience that transports you to the very origin of the vineyard and its surroundings, highlighting a mineral touch that combines with notes of white flowers and an elegant aftertaste.
This Verdejo is best enjoyed at a temperature of between 9 and 12 ºC, pairing perfectly with fish, seafood, white meats and lighter dishes such as salads and pasta. Finca Montico Verdejo is an example of how respect for tradition and innovation can converge to offer a unique and memorable wine.
