Description
Malleolus is an aged red wine made exclusively with the Tempranillo grape variety by Bodegas Emilio Moro under the D.O. Ribera del Duero appellation.
The grapes come from 25 and 75 year old southwest facing vines, located in Pesquera de Duero, planted at an altitude of 887 metres above sea level on clay-limestone-stony soil.
The word Malleolus means "majuelo", a common name for vineyards in the Pesquera de Duero area.
Winemaking
The grapes are harvested by hand. On arrival at the winery, an exhaustive selection process is carried out to discard any bunches that are not in optimum condition.
Fermentation is carried out in stainless steel tanks at a controlled temperature. After 28 days of maceration with the skins, malolactic fermentation takes place in French oak barrels.
The wine is aged for 18 months in new French Allieroak barrels until it is ready to be bottled.
Taste
Malleolus is a red wine with expressive, spicy aromas and a mineral touch. On the palate it is very balanced, full and fleshy with ripe tannins and a long, lingering aftertaste.
