Robert Parker's Wine Advocate
A blend of the 2015 and 2014 vintages, Egly's emblematic NV Brut Blanc de Noirs Grand Cru Les Crayères was disgorged this year with only one gram per liter dosage. Bursting with aromas of mirabelle plum, Anjou pear and green apple mingled with notions of freshly baked bread, honeycomb and praline, it's full-bodied, layered and multidimensional, its satiny attack segueing into a deep, layered mid-palate of striking texture and concentration. Concluding with a long, intensely saline finish, it's another brilliant wine from a great producer at the top of his form.

Description
Egly-Ouriet Blanc de Noirs Grand Cru Les Crayères is a sublime expression of Champagne viticulture. This wine, made exclusively from Pinot Noir, comes from old vines planted in 1946 in the Montagne de Reims, specifically in the Les Crayères plot in Ambonnay. The uniqueness of this terroir is reflected in its shallow soil, where the roots of the vines quickly meet the chalky bedrock, bringing a characteristic minerality to the wine.
Winemaking
This Champagne is vinified entirely in barrel, which contributes to its complexity and structure. Ageing on the lees lasts 6 years, a considerable period that allows for the development of unique flavours and textures. This extended ageing process is essential to achieve the depth and elegance that characterise this wine. The final blend is composed of 50% of the 2016 vintage and 50% of the 2015 vintage, bringing balance and consistency to the wine's profile.
Taste
Egly-Ouriet Blanc de Noirs Grand Cru Les Crayères is a Champagne of extraordinary complexity and finesse. On the nose, it displays aromas of buttered citrus, orange blossom, green almonds and a pronounced saline minerality. On the palate, it reveals a rich, deep texture, with flavours ranging from mirabelle plum and pear to green apple, freshly baked bread, honeycomb and praline. Its silky attack gives way to a mid-palate of great texture and concentration, culminating in a long, intensely saline finish. This Champagne, flirting with perfection, promises to evolve magnificently for at least two more decades. Its taste profile makes it an exceptional Champagne, capable of conveying the essence of such a unique and outstanding terroir.
